I joke with my parents that there is no better place to be during a pandemic than Denmark. Truth be told, that's how I feel.
I have seen in practice what it means to trust the government. People followed instructions, respected the measures and we see a hopeful picture now. At the same time, it's so weird and hard being here while the situation back home is so dire. Numbers are way below reality and the irresponsible government is dismissing the virus as something minor.
What has gotten me through the days is reading, cooking (brigadeiro in the picture!), seeing the sun (thanks Denmark for bringing out the sun when we can't really go out) meeting friends online and knowing that my loved ones are safe. Anxiety comes eventually, but I'm learning to cope, one day at a time.
A lesson to take forever: live days to the max, don't hesitate about going out (go to that Friday bar!) because you never know when a pandemic will hit the world. I'm glad I enjoyed my days in Aarhus before the lockdown!
