Urooba, Canada

The pandemic has grinded all my plans for 2020 to a halt.
Journalism conferences I was supposed to attend all over Europe, no more; flying to Miami for my sister's med school graduation, cancelled; working in London in an international newsroom for my dream internship over the summer, postponed; & even a 2-week trip to Italy, clearly unfathomable in the immediate future. It's been a hard pill to swallow but I still feel lucky: if this pandemic has shown anything, it is how greatly it's laying bare and exacerbating inequality worldwide.

I'm in Denmark but am considering heading back home to Canada. I'm privileged to make the choice between two wealthy places with markedly good responses to the pandemic — and as a result, declining rates of infection. In the end, the pandemic has also made me realize some of the most important things that will keep me going in this turbulent era are also the most basic: exercise, sunshine, a good meal, and Zoom hangouts with friends and family worldwide.
